A wedge wire lateral is also called Johnson Slotted Screen Filter. It is made of wedge wire, which is the most popular industry filter type because of its outstanding chemical stability and corrosion resistance.
The wedge wire lateral is composed of a working profile and a support profile.The wire type of surface profile is commonly triangular wire, which is also called V-shaped wire. The support wire can be a flat bar, triangle bar, round bar, and trapezoid bar.

The wedge wire lateral can be perforated pipe-based for high-pressure vessels or designed to evenly distribute flow over the entire screen area.

The wedge wire filter Hub Radial Lateral Assembly has two types: threaded ending wedge wire screen lateral and flange ending wedge wire screen lateral. Threaded ending wedge wire screen laterals are composed of a solid cap on one end and a threaded pipe connection on the other end. The flange ending wedge wire screen lateral is composed of a solid cap on one end and a flange. The different designs make it possible to suit different applications and machines.

Because of the different endings of the wedge wire screen lateral, the connection type is different. Commonly the wedge wire screen laterals are installed onto the vertical hub by a thread. Sometimes, the screen laterals are bolted onto the round hub through flanges on the screen laterals and round hubs.

 

Filter Direction

According to the position and direction of surface profiles and support profiles, the wedge wire screen filter tube can be divided into four types.

Radial internal type. The filtering principle flows in to out. The support profile is radial.

Radial external type. The filtering principle is flowing out to in. It is the standard type. The support profile is also radial.

Axial internal type. The filtering principle flows in to out. And the support profile is axial.

Axial external type. The filtering principle is flowing out to in. And the support profile is axial.
